No practice Monday, August 16 through Saturday, August 21. The pool is being drained to have some annual maintenance
done. Sometimes maintenance plans don’t always go as planned, so check out our Facebook page for confirmation on starting
back on Monday, August 23.
Four
On Saturday, September 25 (this does not conflict with a home Husker Football game) UNO
Swimming & Diving team will be having its annual golf outing. This event was a lot of fun in the past years, and I usually
don’t like to golf but I do like this event. It is not a fundraiser it is more of a friendraiser – getting supporters
of the swimming community together. This year we have a change of venue! Many golf courses would not book our friendraiser
but I am happy to announce we will be at Milt’s this year. This course brings back great memories, it made golf fun
for me! All are welcome to join in the fun: Masters, boosters, alumni, and friends. A flyer will be coming out within the
next two weeks - check out our Facebook page. It would be awesome if we could get at least 3 foursomes from our group!
Because space is limited, please let me know asap if you are interested, even if it is tentative.
Brain Power
One of
our swimmers, Peter Wolcott, ran across this article on the brain benefits of swimming. I knew swimming was great for
the body but now we know it increases brain power. Peter notes, the article doesn't address the question of the additional
benefits of cognitively challenging workouts :)
