No PracticeWe will not have practice on Friday or Saturday (March 29 & 30) for Easter weekend.
Quarterly
Dues
The first quarter has just zoomed by. It is time to pay for the second quarter
(April, May, and June).
More Drills
Over the months of April and May our program will be focusing
a little more on kick and drill sets. This direction is to compensate for the increase in water temperature.
The College of St Mary needs to increase the temperature to accommodate the kids swim lessons program being conducted
throughout the week. With the increase in temperature major push sets will be dialed back.
It has been a long time since we have spent time working on technique so this will be a great opportunity for stroke
improvement.
Iowa or Indy
Are you going to the Breadbasket Zone Championships? They will
be held at Grinnell College on Saturday, April 6. You can check out more
information on our Facebook page (thanks to Sue Nutty and Erin Sullivan). Grinnell College has an awesome
pool. Let Erin or Todd know if you plan on attending this meet.
How about Nationals – anyone going to Indy? They will be held at IU Natatorium in Indianapolis
from May 9-12. The meet will be fast and the facilities are some of the best in the country.
It is fun just to swim warm-ups in this pool J
Let Todd know if you plan on attending this meet.
Free Swim Practice and Free Food
Free food and a free swim practice will be held on Sunday, April 28 at the
Kroc Center (2825 Y St.). This is also a Local Masters Swim Committee meeting/social. If
you have been wanting to volunteer to the sport you love then here is a marvelous opportunity! Set
aside time from 1-4 pm and within that time you will have a workout first (1-2:30 pm) and then food (3-4 pm) with a brief
meeting thrown in for fun. If you don’t
want to volunteer then that is ok, you are still welcome to workout and eat food. It is a win-win fun kind
of time! Contact Erin for more details at erinswim@cox.net.
More Summer Practice Times
This
summer will be a new adventure for our program. College swimmers will be in the pool right after our practice.
The times will be Tuesday/Thursday from 7-8 am (which will start May 7) and Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday from 6:30-8 am
(which will start May 13). These times will continue until August 16, with Tuesday/ Thursday going until
August 29. The cost of this program will be $135 for the summer. Masters will be allowed
to swim on Tuesday/ Thursday times with no additional cost.
Maverick Swimming
and Diving (Personal Note)
We wrapped up our season
at the Summit League Championship Meet in Oakland, MI February 20-23 with a third place team finish, only 4.5 points from
second place! I’m extremely proud of Omaha’s performance this season and finishing in third
place at our first-ever Division I conference meet was a great accomplishment and an amazing way to finish our season.
We had swimmers make the Finals heat (Top 8) in all but four events and we swam in consolations in every event but
one. Our divers contributed two finalists on both one-meter and three-meter boards.
