Fitness -- FriendsSupreme Dictators NeededThe final UNOmaha Women's swim meet is fast approaching --
NCAA Nationals. The team will be leaving at 6 am on Tuesday, March 10 and returning Sunday, March 15. Over this extended period
I need 4 people to step forward to become 'The Supreme Dictator' of our practices. Erin has agreed to be in charge
of the building, so all you have to do is tell people what to do. Sound like fun? It is! If you can coach on one of these
days then e-mail me back pronto (last time someone missed out because they waited); the days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday,
and Saturday. You can use the practice in the workout book or you can make up your own. Write me -- tsamland@unomaha.edu. Thank you for being involved. Tough Economy The burglars from the Fall are back. Many of us have experienced
the intrusive feeling associated with being broken into. Some things play into our program (and the boot camp fitness program)
being a target: our parking lot is secluded away from a busy street, our parking lot has low traffic from 6 am to 6:40 am,
and people do irrational things that hurt others when difficult financial problems arise. The College of St. Mary's has
once again posted a security person in our parking lot. CSM is also considering placing a surveillance camera over the area.
We can also help by taking away opportunities: do not leave anything of value in your car, do not leave important work documents
in your car, do not leave anything of value in your trunk (most vehicles have a latch in the car to release the trunk), and
finally consider leaving your car unlocked. The last point could be difficult for some to agree with, and I can understand
why, but the reason I mention it is because if I don't have anything of value in my car then they have nothing to take
and fortunately last time this happened they did open my car door and took a few things (old CD's) from the car but they
didn't break the window. Triathlon Clinic We have some flyers promoting a Triathlon Clinic being conducted
by the UNOmaha Campus Recreation department on March 7th. You are welcome to grab a flier or call 554-2539 for more information.
Dara Torres -- US Olympic Champion Dara Torres will be coming to town on the evening of Thursday, March 26.
At the event 'A Night With the Mavs,' Dara will be presenting 'Never Give Up on Your Dreams.' This is a fundraiser
for UNOmaha Athletics. Go to http://www.omavs.com for more details, or contact me with questions. The tickets for this event are $75. Pricey? Yes, but well within the asking
price of a famous swimmer that is also a Masters swimmer (speakers don't come cheap). The $75 is the general public cost,
which places a person at random tables (even if you put everyone in the same envelope). If you have a group you want to sit
with then the purchase of a corporate table ($1000, $3000, or $5000) is the appropriate protocol. One of our Masters swimmers
has made it so we can have a table together by allowing each of us to pay $75 (and the $250 difference will be covered). So
far the following people have jumped onto this event: Mike McKamy, John Hartigan, Erin Sullivan, Mary Pat Moeller, Sheila
Wrobel, Pat Zalesky, Bridgitte Otto, Peter Silberstein, Michelle Silberstein, and a tenth person to be determined. Would you
like to join them? Again drop me a line to let me know if you are the one! Future Masters Swimmers Congratulations
to the Smith Family and the Joslin Family on the February arrivals!!!!!!
