A Change
Starting October 5 our program will be changing practices times to accommodate
the practice schedule for the College of St. Mary women’s swim team. Our program will swim 5:30-6:30 am Monday-Wednesday-Friday, 6:00-7:00 am on Tuesday
& Thursday, and 7:00-8:00 am on Saturday. This schedule will continue until March 30 at which time our program will
return to the 6:00-7:00 am weekdays & 7:00-8:00 am on Saturday. Since this is a change from the past, if this is
an inconvenience and you are no longer able to participate in the program then contact Todd (tsamland@unomaha.edu) for a refund of already paid fees.
Labor Day
This weekend is Labor Day Holiday and the campus
will be closed, hence we will not have practice on Saturday and Monday.
New
Pool Deck
Starting Tuesday, September 8 the pool will be
closed for two weeks. During this time the pool deck will be receiving and improved surface – ceramic
tile. During that time we will not be able to swim. Once the pool deck is ready we will be swimming but
the locker rooms will then be under renovation for new ceramic tile. During that time the men will use an alternate
space (upstairs restroom) to change and the women will get the use of the locker room that is not under renovation. Because
we are missing half of a month everyone will be receiving a $15 credit towards the fees for the next month or next quarter.
Four
On Saturday, October 3, Tim
Patterson is organizing a golf outing for the UNOmaha Women’s Swimming and Diving
Team. It is not a fundraiser it is more of a friendraiser. Eagle Run will be the course, with a late morning tee
time of 9:30 am (with lunch afterwards). Masters, boosters, alumni, and friends are welcome to be part of this. The
entry fee is $40 ($160 per team). It is my hope that a two to three Masters swimmers bring in some friends to create
a couple of teams. Contact Tim (Tim.Patterson@Conagra.com)
or Todd (tsamland@unomaha.edu).
Triathlon Clinic
September 18 & 19 UNO Campus Recreation will be conducting a Triathlon Clinic.
This is a great way to build a foundation for next season. The clinic is intended to give you the background,
tools and motivation to give it a tri. Appropriate for beginners and those with some triathlon experience. Contact
Pat Philippi at 554-2223 or pphilippi@unomaha.edu
for more details!
Women’s Triathlon
On
August 29 the Methodist Hospital/ UNO Women’s Triathlon had 460 women participate in
a non-competitive triathlon. It was an awesome sight and experience. It was great to have many of our women participating
but the men of our Masters program were incredible. Because of Randy Cassling, John Hartigan, Chuck Sloup, Kelvin Thurman,
Pat Prince, Terry Koopman, Todd Lundberg, Jason Hince and many friends of our Masters program this triathlon went very smooth
– you guys were awesome! Thank you.
